CABLE INSTALLER/TECHNICIAN

We are looking to hire an experienced structured cabling installer to install and maintain cabling systems for our customers. In this role you will be required to assess various installation conditions, install and terminate cable, install network peripherals and equipment. You may also be required to troubleshoot networking or equipment issues.

To ensure success as a cable installer, you should have knowledge of various telecommunication infrastructure systems, troubleshooting skills, the ability to follow direction and work with others, and maintain a professional work ethic. A proficient cable installer works quickly and efficiently.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

· A minimum of 5 years of experience running and installing ethernet, fiber optic, coax, and multi-conductor cables.

· Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, and scope of work.

· Ability to map out cabling routes and assessing materials required to complete the installation of the network infrastructure.

· Identifying and removing old or redundant cables.

· Certified in terminations of CommScope, Panduit, Hubbell, Siemen, and Leviton types of connectivity/solutions. Copy of certifications helpful.

· Experience in terminating patch panels, voice blocks, fiber optic connectors (Corning Unicam preferred).

· Knowledge and experience using testers (Fluke preferred), scanner and toners (Fluke, Klein, Ideal).

· Knowledge of TIA/EIA, NEC and BICSI Standards.

· Knowledge and experience with installation and design of main and intermediate distribution room, frames, or cabinets.

· Must have OSHA 40 or higher certification. Other safety certifications are helpful.

· Must have a clean driver’s license.

· Must have a vehicle and be willing to travel within the tri-state area.

· Must have own basic tools, including, cordless drill, screw drivers, cutters, punch-down and cable tracing tools.

· Proper attire required. Company branded shirts are provided.

· Mandatory background check and drug/alcohol testing is required (at the company’s expense).

· Must be able to work various shift times (mornings, afternoon, early evenings – as work schedule demands).
