CAD Technician (Hybrid)

The CAD Technician is responsible for the creation of Municipal consent or utility application drawings from concept to final design, drawn to scale, suitably detailed to convey the necessary information required for permit approval.

This is a Hybrid position with our team in Carp, ON. Our office is located at 2726 Carp Road and candidates must have reliable transportation (i.e. personal vehicle) as the location is not easily accessible via public transit.

Responsibilities:
Liaison with project coordinators and facilitators to provide quality drawings.

Develop, create, recommend, design new aerial pole line drawings and standardize it for multi-site application. Include fix/edit in existing drawing to conform to the company’s current acceptable design standards.

Create CAD drawings from concept to final design, drawn to scale, suitably detailed to convey the necessary information required for approval.

Check and correct any mistakes within the drawings.

Create new and innovative methods to improve the quality of company’s drawings and the drawing process.

Complete drawings within prescribed time limit.

Abilities in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines.

Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.

Requirements:
Civil, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent work experience.

Must be Proficient with AutoCAD Version 2004 or higher.

1 – 2 years’ experience in civil engineering environment and field experience is an asset.

1 – 2 years in a related field of telecommunications is an asset.

Familiar with MS Visio version 2010 or later

Familiar with CSA standards, specifically CSA 22.3.

Comfortable using Paper Space / Model Space.

Able to read site drawings.

Have experience digitizing plans and PDF creation (Adobe/Nitro).

Follow standard drawing and printing procedures as set out by the client.

Experience using or producing Municipal Engineering Drawings would be an asset.

Experience reading telecom network plans would be an asset

Experience with creation of drawings using landbase maps, ArcGIS maps, and AutoCAD LSIP routine would be an asset

Telecommunications Experience, Auto-Cad, Micro-Station, Utility Design an asset.
