As the Royal Canadian Air Forces’ prime service provider at 5 Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, our team delivers comprehensive air operations, emergency services, logistics and engineering expertise to the Department of National Defence. We work on behalf of DND’s “no fail” mission at Goose Bay: supporting NORAD operations for the projection of air power on the north and northeast coasts of Canada, while supporting military training for the Canadian Armed Forces, Allies and NORAD. 5 Wing Goose Bay provides effective training facilities, adaptable infrastructures, and a unique, austere, and challenging training location. You will be part of a team that works closely with the military customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality and efficient services to DND. In This Role, you will:
- Perform Preventive and Corrective maintenance of Airfield equipment.
- Perform Preventive and Corrective maintenance of Comms and IT equipment and software.
- Ensure compliance with all Serco Canada Inc. policies and procedures, including but not limited to Code of Conduct and Ethics, Serco Management System, PDR’s, etc.
- Ensure all equipment, renovations and installations conform to DND requirements as specified in contract statements of work, work requests and directives. And meet applicable standards. This includes work by contractors, DND civilian employees and military personnel. Act as a technical adviser for CIS equipment.
- Setup and operate all specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electronic equipment.
- Assist in the performance of in-service engineering functions and participate in studies of related equipment, maintenance schedules, future requirements, sources of equipment failures and system safety.
- Participate with DND personnel, civilian employees, and contractors regarding equipment installation, operation and maintenance, including computer hardware and software, support equipment and the collection of data.
- Investigate unusual maintenance problems and keep the CIS Supervisor aware of any change in equipment serviceability status.
- Participate in equipment training, seminars, conferences, and meetings as required.
- Participate in Inventory of spare parts and identify shortages to CIS Supervisor.
- Perform serviceability testing and provide operational instruction on Comms and IT equipment for short term loan to users.
- Identify problem areas and inform CIS Supervisor.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- College diploma or equivalent training and experience in Electronics Technology.
- Minimum of five years’ experience with Airfield Telecommunications, Radar, Navigational Aids, and/or Comms and IT equipment.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 NL Driver’s license.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Level II security clearance is required.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test.
Hourly Rate: $48.78 Hours per week: 37.5
