Coax Splicer Trainee

Summary of Position:

The Coax Splicer Trainee is a trainable splicer who will ensures that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and repair of Coax line and line equipment
  • Activation of a RF line and signal
  • RF interference detection
  • Final certification of RF line and correct signal balance
  • Splice overhead coaxial cables
  • Climb utility poles and utilize truck-mounted lift buckets to complete daily construction assignments as needed
  • Cut and prepare coaxial cable prior to splicing and prepare electronics
    Ensure that all needed tools and equipment are available at the jobsite
  • Work from engineered blueprints
  • Keep track of production
  • Complete daily production reports
  • Mark-up maps, track work hours and complete “as-built maps” for areas built
  • Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts

Preferred Education and Skills:

  • You have some knowledge in CATV installation or other telecom experience
  • Ability to climb a ladder
  • Familiar with bucket truck
  • Problem solving skills and hands on learning
  • Self-starter and ability to independently work

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work in all temperatures, climates and weather conditions
  • Need the ability to perform the physical tasks required in this position for the entire assigned shift
  • Ability to climb poles

Essential Education and Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and understand site plans, maps and diagrams needed to support project
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be willing to obtain the required license for this position
  • Capable of working in all temperatures, climates and weather conditions
  • Willing to work shifts as assigned, including daily overtime when necessary
  • Must demonstrate proficiency as a pole climber
  • Ability to perform the physical tasks required in this position for the entire assigned shift
