Job Description
Overall purpose of the job:
Lead a team of Commercial Analysts to support the business, from a commercial’s perspective, in winning large and strategic contacts.
Key responsibilities for this job:
- Management of team members’ activities and training to enable and support them in providing best in class commercial support to the business.
- Manage the team workload, commercial cases allocation and provide regular activity reporting.
- Support team members in working with customers to understand their specific requirements and provide the most adequate commercial outcome.
- Proactively and continuously look for new and better initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of the team.
- Manage the queue for Commercial / Contract Support Requests (CCSR), ensuring that requests are allocated, attended to, and resolved within the established SLAs.
- Manage the communication with the sales team and key stakeholders making sure that everyone is appropriately updated.
- Manage the CCSR database and ensure is kept up to date.
- Identify any requests already available in the CCSR database and communicate the results back to the relevant team.
- Support the front-end of the business in dealing with prospects or customers’ queries in relation to large and strategic contracts including attendance to meetings and calls.
- Build the Commercial Contract Analysis, extract the main deal KPIs and provide initial deal shaping to achieve the business objectives.
- Ensure overall commercial position is properly reflected in the cost model including pricing and also any relevant commercial termsincluded in the deal.
- Support CAB submission of all internal models required during bid process.
- As part of the CAB submission, flag any anomalies and specific risks included in the deal.
- Assist in the creation of customer facing bid pricing documents and when required support in their presentation to prospects or customers.
- Provide and review commercial assumptions and caveats working alongside the solutions team, procurement and any other relevant team.
- Work with procurement and the solutions and products teams to ensure the deal cost base is optimised. This can also include getting involved in conversations with suppliers when needed in order to achieve the required outcome.
- Provide guidance in terms of pricing and overall margin position.
- Review and approve the commercial schedule of the contract, ensuring it’s aligned to the approved model.
- Support contract reconcile to pricing tools, including handover to Finance for billing.
- Provide guidance on queries in delivery linked to contract cost base and revenue.
- Assist Product Managers when required in cost / pricing modelling.
- Work closely with the Products, Solutions, Sales, Procurement, Billing and Bid teams to ensure the correct and efficient development of the Commercial / Contract function.
Knowledge and experience required:
- Experience in commercial analysis.
- Experience in leading teams.
- Highly numerate with strong reporting and analytical skills.
- Advanced skills in Excel – ability to analyse, manipulate reports and present results.
- Great attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable knowledge and experience:
- Experience in commercial analysis and contracts within the IT / Telecoms area.
- Used to work with contract frameworks in IT/ Telecoms area, including public sector frameworks.
- Management of commercial management team.
- Understanding of the IT / Telecoms market and technologies.
