A Communication Systems Engineer is needed for a rail transport company, active in the fields of passenger transportation, signalling and locomotives in the Melbourne, FL area. Candidate should have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and at least 4 years of engineering or other technical work experience and at least 3 additional years of experience in a systems engineering role.

responsibilities:

• Coordinate technical aspects and lead requisitions
• Knowledge of network hardware including servers, routers, and other computer devices
• Use system requirements to design and deploy networks and solutions
• Support multiple projects simultaneously
• Develop testing, verification, and validation procedures as well as execute the procedures
• Experience in building, maintaining and supporting VmWare, Microsoft Windows Server and Linux operating systems and servers
• strong project management and organizational skills. Create and maintain documentation including System Functional Specifications and Interface Control Documents
• Trace system requirements to DOORS
• Work with RF and assist Lead System Engineer as needed
• Assist in the proposal process to insure that only sound technical solutions are offered to customers
• Configure products for placement on the competitive landscape and define product specifications including performance, cost, and schedule
• Implement the timely execution of product conceptual designs to meet evolving market needs
• Coordinate design, project and system engineers during detailed design, start-up and warranty administration phases of project
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and at least 4 years of engineering or other technical work experience
• At least 3 additional years of experience in a systems engineering role

Skills:

• Experience in project scheduling
• Cross-platform experience in systems administration, installation, configuration, and of Servers
• Networking, Routing, Switching, Subnetting, VLAN
• Experience in firewall administration
• Ability to achieve results in a matrix environment
