We are growing and we need traveling technicians to join our team.
Data Communications Technician
In this position you will be responsible for cabling, installation and configuration of equipment such as surveillance systems and access control systems. As a Technician, you would need to be able to be a team member and ensure a safe work environment for yourself as well as your coworkers and helpers. This is a traveling position and our work is in Missouri, Kansas and neighboring states. We work Monday through Thursday, 4 -10 hour shifts. Overtime is available.
Key Abilities:
· Pulling Cable – the successful candidate will need to know how to organize a team to pull backbone and horizontal cabling efficiently and effectively, as well as creating a labeling system for the termination process.
· Building Telecommunications Closets—the successful candidate will need to be able to install the rack equipment, cable support systems, cable management equipment and bonding bars to connect the equipment to the telecommunications bonding conductors.
· Surveillance Systems—need to be able to install IP surveillance cameras, servers and software and configure the recording settings for a facility.
· Access Control—need to understand relay logic, install door controllers, cabling and door lock equipment, as well as terminate the controllers and locks and configure the software.
· Nurse Call—the successful candidate will need to be able to learn to cable and install nurse call devices for configuration by others.
· Network Awareness—the applicant should have basic network and communication abilities and understand how to navigate a network to install the systems at hand. This includes assigning IP addresses to equipment, pinging an address on a network, understanding how to navigate in a network with VLANs.
· Fiber Optic Cable—the successful candidate will be able to terminate fiber optic cabling with a fusion splicer and test the dB loss for their work. They will need to be able to do this in a safe and organized fashion.
· Audio Visual Systems—the position will include installation and configuration of AV systems, including speakers, amplifiers, control systems, and theatre equipment.
· Experience—this position will require 1 year of experience in some or all aspects of the above abilities.
(You do not need to have experience in all of these but you do need to have some of them and the ability to quickly learn other systems).
Qualifications:
· BICSI Level I Certification or equivalent experience and willingness to attend classes for certification, is a plus.
· 1 year of experience in the industry, with at least some of the above Key Abilities.
· Understand how to test and certify of copper and fiber optic cabling, as well as troubleshooting.
· Ability to stand and walk for the full work day.
· Ability to climb ladders and operate boom and scissor lifts safely.
· Ability to work on a construction site safely and watch out for the safety of your team.
· OSHA 10 certification, we are serious about safety, every day all day (or willing to obtain).
· Understand how to read construction documents and drawings and perform the work according to these drawings is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 – $25.00 per hour
