Under direction of a Team Leader employees are responsible for the designing, installing, commissioning, inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting of communications equipment including RF Carriers, multiplex equipment, IP Network, mobile radios, fibre optics, cable and other systems. Provides maintenance to radio site support systems, this includes buildings, HVAC, tower structure, lighting and site grounds. Employees may in whole or in part assist with performing tests using various types of test equipment, replacing and/or repairing equipment, analyzing and documenting equipment reliability, developing drawings, estimating costs, and performing acceptance tests, in accordance with the company practices, procedures, and external codes.

What You Get to Do:
Troubleshooting problems (Failures), analyzes, corrects, submits reports.
Performs preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Configuration of IP Network equipment.
Provides input into preventative and/or predictive maintenance programs.
Performs regular system checks.
Uses and supports Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo).
Schedules equipment permits.
Provides Contractor Management.
Provides input into Budget decisions.
Completes administrative functions.
Construction and general wiring of telecommunication panels.
Construction and general wiring of Radio buildings including installation of AC & DC.
Installation and maintenance of telecommunication equipment.
Complete required construction documentation including as-built drawings.
Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions.
Responsible for the safe care and use of company vehicles and equipment.
Participates in safety meetings.
Successfully completes any specific area Site/Plant Orientations.
Provides daily work plans and competes job safety analysis.
Exercises good environmental practices.
Assists in accident investigations as required.
All mandatory safety training in up to date this includes Driver Training, WHIMS, TDG, and First-Aid.
Participates and Successfully completes, and applies all Technical and Non-technical training courses.
Participates in Technologist assessment and training program.
Assists in establishing developmental objectives.
Undertakes a temporary assignment to a higher classification or position if requested.
Mentors and assists in the development of junior Technologist as required.
Field work with exposure to the elements, noise, dust, and electrical hazards.
Travel to remote areas with overnights is required.
Working alone may be required.
Scheduled standby required.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
Technical Diploma/Certificate in a related discipline from a recognized institute of technology.
Valid Class 5 operator’s license.
Greater than 2 years of directly related experience.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Good organizational and planning skills.
Computer and IP Networking skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to reside in the location’s designated area and provide after-hours coverage. This position may require the candidate to work away from home base.
