Responsibilities

  • Prioritize corrective maintenance communications work and solve problems accordingly
  • Monitor and troubleshoot field communications issues through use of software and hardware tools
  • Execute preventative maintenance of communications equipment and towers
  • Communicate with supervisor, coworkers and the rest of the team to ensure work goals are achieved efficiently and effectively
  • Establish effective communication with Field Operations to establish and maintain work priorities
  • Document field communications performance during field improvement projects
  • Participate in the rotating, on-call communications schedule, to ensure data outages are addressed even if they happen during non-working hours
  • Conduct work in a mindful way optimizing available resources, but without compromising safety, environment or health
  • Adhere to all company policies, including but not limited to high HSE standards, business code of conduct, IT cybersecurity philosophies and best work practices

Required qualifications

  • High school degree and minimum three to five years of experience in radio communications or computer networks. Alternatively, bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or network related disciplines
  • Experience in configuring serial data communications is required
  • Experience in programming or configuring data radio or network equipment is required
  • Must be skilled in troubleshooting communications issues that may come from different sources
  • The candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact with team members at various levels in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Must be able to coordinate work with contractors and handle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency in using computer tools for office and technical applications is a must
  • The candidate must understand the importance of keeping documentation up to date and should be able to demonstrate experience on this matter
  • Must be able to perform work under minimum supervision
  • Must have a valid CA Driver’s license & a clean DMV

Preferred qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networks is highly desired
  • Knowledge of two-way voice radio systems is not required but would be a plus
  • General knowledge of field instrumentation, SCADA systems and OPC communication protocol would be a plus
  • Familiarity with automation and electrical industry standards is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with XSPOC and well pump off controllers
  • Thorough understanding of various radio types and applications – Cambium, Inet, Freewave, Canopy

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,240.00 – $88,100.00 per year
