JOB OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Manager, Communications & Purchasing, the Communications Support Clerk performs a variety of mail courier and administrative duties. Delivers mail, documents, packages, and other items to offices within the organization or to other businesses using a company vehicle. Provides support and assists in facilitating communication service, printing, and telecommunication needs. Upholds the values of the GPA to promote Safety, Integrity, Respect, Community, Creativity and Opportunity. Promotes a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.

JOB DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. Assists the Communications Support Specialist and the Administrative Coordinator in administrative and telecommunications duties.

2. Assists the communications team with GPA’s needs in maintaining telephones, cell phones, radios/ radio networks and problem resolution.

3. Works closely with other departments and serves as a liaison for all mail service.

4. Stamps and sorts incoming/outgoing mail.

5. Processes all incoming/outgoing mail (certified and special delivery). Collects, bundles, and delivers outgoing mail to post office, make deposits and other scheduled or special deliveries.

6. Responsible for all mail delivery and parcels for all port office locations.

7. Maintains records of parcels and registered mail received and delivered.

8. Assist in printing, copying, and creating GPA forms.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of general mail and ability to complete required deliveries in a timely manner with minimal supervision. The ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels of administration including immediate supervisor, management and co-workers required. Working knowledge of handheld communications devices desired. Aptitude for, or experience in, learning new communication technologies. Must have the ability to perform routine administrative tasks. Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel desired. Ability to exercise judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures appropriately and determining when to refer problems to the supervisor or next level of support.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Other Requirements:

Must meet the criteria for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Valid state driver’s license required. The individual must be physically able to lift items up to minimum of 30 lbs.
