JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: CONSTRUCTION MANAGER – DAS (and all In-building Wireless Telecommunication Networks)

DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS

REPORTS TO: AREA MANAGER

SUMMARY: Schedules, coordinates, and oversees the successful implementation of DAS construction projects including but not limited to scheduling of sub-contractors, resolving day-to-day problems on the job site, and inspecting all work during construction to ensure quality and compliance with plans and specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules, oversees, and performs all phases of construction from frame to finish; coordinates all necessary inspections.
  • Assists in conducting site surveys as required.
  • Assists in obtaining all permits and approvals necessary; coordinates and manages all communication with permitting officials to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
  • Manages project logistics and inventory control for all equipment, materials, and tools associated with assigned construction projects.
  • Develops and maintains construction schedules and systems to track and report all phases of project, reports on status of projects daily.
  • Performs constant on-site monitoring and quality control function; manages and resolves punch lists and potential issues and problems.
  • Provide on-site project presence throughout project life cycle. Oversee and lead field personnel assigned to project(s).
  • Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements; implements OSHA guidelines and programs; enforces established safety guidelines and promotes a safe workplace; conducts regular safety meetings with workers.
  • Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of telecommunications industry standards including, but not limited to; ANSI, Telcordia, TIA; Participates in the research and development of new construction materials and methods as required.
  • Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge operational knowledge of industry test equipment including, but not limited to; Anritsu, Kaelus, JDSU, Fluke.
  • Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of industry OEM specifications including, but not limited to, CommScope, Corning, Ericsson, JMA.
  • Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of RF Theory, RF Math, and Major Carrier Frequency bands, protocols, and terminology.
  • Possesses and maintains in depth knowledge of the installation and maintenance of Telecom DC power systems including, but not limited to, Rectifiers, Inverters, Converters, etc.
  • Performs and manages the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Telecom

Equipment, Cabling, and related components for assigned construction projects.

  • Compiles and completes all paperwork and documentation necessary for project closeouts including, but not limited to, as-builts, test data, workbooks.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees and contractors that are assigned to construction projects.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees/contractors; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems .

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. o Required: High School Graduate or GED Experience and 2+ years of Construction Management experience in the Telecommunications Industry o Preferred: Minimum 2 years of a technical college and/or industry training/certifications of proven experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Practical construction management knowledge and experience.

  • Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions.
  • Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, and communicate.
  • Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Frequent exposure to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequent work in precarious and high-profile venues.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise (examples: equipment, tools, etc.)
  • Frequent and extensive travel required.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
