There are nearly 2,500 passionate Telecon employees who work across North America to provide the engineering design solutions, installation, construction, verification, and maintenance services for cabled and wireless networks.
Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Construction Technician will assist the Expercom Civil Team with the installation of telecommunications infrastructure (buried cable, wire or ducts) for various projects.
Responsibilities

• Digging holes and trenches
• Experienced in concrete and asphalt restoration
• Pulling cable
• Operating equipment and tools
• General site preparation and clean-up as directed
• Handle and distribute construction materials, as well as safely loading and unloading vehicles with supplies and equipment as directed
• Able to read construction plans
• Able to run gas and power equipment (i.e. saws, drills, jumping jacks)
• Able to train other team members
• Able to run rubber tracked and skid steer on an occasional basis only
• Able to assess work environment for potential health and safety hazards
• Ability to assess work environment for potential health and safety hazards and ensure work is completed safely; able to complete a Job Hazard Assessment
• Removal of all debris from work sites
• Set up traffic control
• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or relevant experience
• 5+ years of related experience in the construction industry
• Good verbal communication skills and able to work with others
• Must be able to safely lift 23 kg (50 lbs)
• Must be able to speak, read and write in English
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable health and safety training as per legislative and job requirements
• Ability to follow instructions
• Must be able to work in restricted and tight spaces and at heights
• Must have a valid G Driver’s License or equivalent with a clean driver’s abstract
• Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check
