Data Center Infrastructure Specialist (DCIS)

The DCIS will provide daily onsite administrative and physical infrastructure related support of the data center relative to standard data center operations (network changes, audits, customer escorts, etc). Essentially, the DCIS will be an onsite custodian whose primary responsibility will be the physical and environmental health of the data center. Critical facilities experience (UPS, PDU’s,Power, etc) along with an intimate knowledge of data center infrastructure are key requirements for this position.

Responsibilities and Duties

Physical onsite responsibilities of this individual may include but are not be limited to the following: network/server equipment audits, port audits, cabling installation, cable removal/mining, fiber/copper testing, labeling, racking/un-racking equipment, escorting customer vendors, managing infrastructure installation by others, facilities infrastructure liaison, and shipping/receiving network equipment.

Administrative responsibilities of this individual may include but may not be limited to the following: Working in a ticketing system, attending conference calls, audit reviews, documentation of all physical infrastructure/cabling links, written reports (soft), device/cable labeling, maintaining consistent communication with staff/customers

Qualifications/Competency

The DCIS shall generally meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:

· A clear understanding of industry best installation practices related to fiber/copper structured cabling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and documentation

· Knowledge of hardware components regarding network, storage, security, and carrier circuit equipment

· Experience working in a data center, NOC or similar critical systems environments (minimum 7 years)

· The ability to monitor and control daily service ticket activity, prioritizing multiple tasks

· Proficiency with managing information in the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (Excel, Outlook, Visio, Sheets, Chat, Docs, Lucent Charts, Etc.)

· Above average communication skills (both verbal and written)

· Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail

· Detailed understanding of network topology, along with intimate knowledge of copper (Cat 6)/fiber patching, and network equipment terminology and porting

· The ability to prioritize workflow completely independently, while at times delegating task to other individuals

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

· Must be willing to submit to a full criminal background check, results of which may or may not bar employment, in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

· Must be willing to submit to a drug screen, in which results will be interpreted and applied to an employment eligibility determination in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

· High School Diploma or Equivalent

Pay and Benefits

This is an hourly position and pay is depending on experience and skill level. Health Insurance and vacation/sick/holiday pay are available after 90 days of continuous employment.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
