Job Description
We are looking for a Senior/Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a IT team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.
As a Senior/Network Engineer you will work in a dynamic team environment and be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the global Backbone and Internet peering infrastructure.
You will carry out regular network maintenances to migrate, upgrade and augment the infrastructure that supports both, internal and external customers.
You are also expected to participate in network designs, defining and development of toolings and automations to enable large-scale deployment and operations.
You will collaborate with vendors on bug fixes and new features, while liaising with peers in Operations/Engineering and Architecture to ensure alignment of technical requirements.
The successful candidate will need to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to multi-task and provide not only operational support for the Backbone, but must also work closely with multi-functional teams to resolve critical network incidents.

Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
- Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Designing, writing and updating both system documentation and network diagrams
Requirements and skills
- At least 5 years of network operations and/or network design background
- In-depth experience in TCP/IP (v4 and v6), BGP and MPLS technologies.
- Proficiency in underlying LAN/WAN technologies and protocols. (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
- Experience supporting large-scale peering/transit networks, with a sound knowledge of complex traffic engineering and Internet routing policies.
- Extensive hands-on experience with carrier-grade routers and operating systems.
- Working knowledge of DWDM Optical Transport technologies.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to adapt to dynamic project environments, while able to manage multiple
- Strong troubleshooting methodology and experience in an operational environment.
- Strong software development skills, including Python programming and Ansible/Shell scripting is highly regarded.
- Proven hands-on network engineering experience
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
- University degree in Computer Science or a related subject
