This is a field service technician position. The position requires continuous (100%) travel, sometimes carrying over several weeks, between multiple states and requires the technician to be able to perform his/her responsibilities at different hours of the day or night, to include split shifts. This position carries the following responsibilities, but may not be limited to just the following: Prepares hardware and equipment to be installed, for himself/herself or a higher level technician, equipment construction of battery racks, power plants and cable tray, or racking systems, performs simple test procedures, such as voltage and resistance tests, performs minor trouble shooting of equipment such as rectifiers, disconnects, power plants and battery plants, repairs minor problems found during the trouble shooting process, installs and upgrades components, parts, cable, equipment, and systems for backup DC Power. These items are limited to a non-hub site environment unless under the direct supervision of a level 3 or higher technician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Equipment Installation
· Read, understand and ask questions about the Method of Procedure (MOP) and a detailed material list.
· Perform all functions of the MOP that lie within his/her skill level.
· Interpret and understand the material list, pull and prepare all of the equipment and hardware listed therein.
· Read, interpret and understand an equipment installation manual.
· Install the equipment installation per the manufacturer’s specifications; listed in step by step procedure, schematic, one line drawing, or picture.
· Properly lift and move heavy equipment (100+ pounds, with the aid of other technicians or special equipment)
· Understand the use of and safety standards of a hydraulic battery lift.
· Travel 100% and perform these above functions on different shifts and even split shifts throughout the work week.
Have electrical industry knowledge
· Have a good understanding of terminology like: EGR, halo, CIGB, TIGB, MIGB
· Understand industry standards for lacing, cable placement, basic AC/DC theory
· Knowledge of wire types, sizes, and Burndy designation for lugs
· Knowledge of grounding standards
· Use electrical test equipment like meters and scopes
· Test batteries at site locations
· Remove and replace cell site backup DC systems including battery cells and cabinets
· Remove and replace +24VDC and -48VDC power rectifier systems
Load and Unload company vehicles
· Inspect vehicle before and after trip
· Properly load, unload, and secure all material in vehicles
· Return and log all materials and tools upon unloading at end of trip
· Follow any inventory procedures that relate to each trip
· Keep DOT driver log book updated
Drive vehicles weighing 10,001 + pounds
· Maintain a good driving record and hold a drivers license that allows you to drive vehicles weighing 10,000+ pounds
· Pass a DOT physical
· Understand and adhere to all DOT regulations
· Follow all applicable laws and rules of the road
· Follow company driving policy
· Take care to help maintain company vehicle inside and out
Use power tools
· Have a good understanding of power tool use and safety
· Be knowledgeable on which power tools to use for each job
· Keep power tools in good working order
· Be diligent in storage/avoid loss of power tools
Additional Responsibilities
· Follow all protocol for cell site entrance and operation
· Be familiar with clients rules, regulations, and needs
· Keep each site clean
· Learn by watching, performing with aid of lead, and formal training
· Check messages and update supervisor regularly
· Use laptop with air card
· Fill out time sheets daily and expense reports weekly
· Follow direction and receive supervision
· Listen to team members of all levels
· Customer Service
Safety
· Follow OSHA safety standards
· Stay alert while on the job
· Look out for dangers in cell site and correct or make note of issues that should be avoided
· Help other team members with safety issues. Remember safety has not level or hierarchy.

Qualifications: – Quick Summary
1) Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
2) Associates or Technical degree from college, or High School Degree /GED and military training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3) Experience in UPS, or Electrical, or HVAC; experience with DC Power a Plus
4) Computer skills – Microsoft office products, Great Plains experience a plus
5) Excellent interpersonal skills
6) Professional demeanor
7) Must Pass DOT Physical, Prehire Drug Screen, and background check
8) Must be able to lift 100 pounds regularly unassisted
9) Must be able to travel 100%
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to work 2nd and 3rd shift, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
