2. Job summary
The main purpose of this role is to enhance the profile and reputation of CARE and its work by developing CARE International UK’s (CIUK) digital communications strategy and leading on its implementation.
This will be achieved by:
• Leading the implementation, project management and evaluation of CIUK’s digital communications strategy, in line with the organisation’s strategic plan.
Leading on the development and improvement of all of CIUK’s digital channels to ensure they maximise their income-generating, communications and advocacy potential.
• Overseeing the continuous maintenance of CIUK’s digital channels, ensuring the upkeep of functionality and usability, and managing our digital services.
• Contributing proactively to and advising on future digital content development.
3. Responsibilities
• Oversee the editorial content management, planning and development of the CIUK digital channels and websites, (namely: www.careinternational.org.uk, http://insights.careinternational.org.uk/), and social media activities, ensuring they reflect CIUK’s vision, mission and brand, respond to organisational priorities, and effectively reaches CIUK’s target audiences.
Maintain smooth functioning of our main, organisational Wagtail website and other digital channels, ensuring trouble-shooting of any technical problems and training colleagues where necessary.
• Devise, project manage and deliver innovations to CIUK digital channels and other projects designed to maximise CIUK income generation, communications and advocacy objectives by leading on the website, email, social and other external platforms that we may have a presence in.
Analyse performance of our websites through Google Analytics in order to identify areas for improvement in conversions, content, design and navigation; implement and oversee a digital road-map to deliver developmental ‘sprints’. Report regular KPIs to Head of Communications, Senior Management and Team leaders.
• Manage all key relationships and responsibilities required to deliver CIUK’s digital communications, particularly with external suppliers, in order to achieve value for money, high quality and agreed levels of service delivery.
• Lead on Search Engine Optimisation, developing and implementing products and plans to increase our websites’ visibility in organic/natural search.
• Proactively demonstrate expertise in digital trends, issues and initiatives in the charity sector and generally by following relevant media, attending seminars and conferences, and liaising with colleagues in other INGOs as necessary.
• Manage our online Fundraising/donations platforms. Working with Fundraising Teams, lead and test and learn programme of optimising donation conversion rates.
Line-manage and support the Digital Channels Executive, conduct regular 1:1s and appraisals, and manage performance, in line with organisational policies and procedures.
• Support Departments quickly and efficiently in their reactive digital communications needs, especially in response to humanitarian emergencies.
• Support Programme and Advocacy department colleagues in the development and implementation of their digital communications needs, providing strategic oversight, copywriting, and editing support, as required.
• Manage an annual digital maintenance budget, ensuring services are procured and paid for in line with organisational policies and procedures.
• Participate proactively in and lead where required Fundraising, Partnerships and Communications planning meetings and Team meetings.
• Promote, support and follow the CARE International Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Child Protection policy (PSEA) with direct reports, the team and in day -to-day practice.
