Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Altima Telecom operates across Canada and has offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Currently, we are looking for a Director of Engineering to establish a technological vision and lead the technological development of the company. The individual in this role will assume technological management responsibilities to ensure our technological strategy and activities align with overall corporate business goals.

Responsibilities

• Direct the activities and operations of the company’s engineering department;
• Manage system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency;
• Develop and implement all policies, standards and procedures to reduce the risk of outside breaches and safeguard sensitive internal and external client information;
• Manage telecom projects, resource requirements and technical solutions to ensure timely and successful completion of projects;
• Create, review and monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technical work performance;
• Evaluate new technologies, identify technological trends, customer dynamics and competitive advantages, and make recommendations on technological solutions to the company;
• Oversee staff performance and make hiring decisions for the engineering department; and
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective integration and prioritization of technical and profitability issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field;
• 5 + years of engineering or senior technical managerial experience in the telecom industry;
• Advanced telecom industry knowledge, especially in Network Design and Advanced Encoder Solutions;
• Extensive experience with GPON equipment, IPTV platforms, STB devices and Smart Home Solutions;
• Strategic thinking, technological analysis, and problem-solving aptitude;
• Exceptional project and people management skills; and
• Strong English reading, written and verbal skills.

• 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Wage and Benefits

• $105,500.00 to $115,000.00 per year, based on experience and skills
