Purpose

We are seeking a Product Director to join our team of Champions focused on disrupting a $50B+ market. This role is deemed essential in managing and growing the portfolio of Transact that underpin and align our products with our execution plan. The role will focus on managing a team of individuals each responsible for a component of shared services that is fundamental to the successful growth, adoption, and scalability of Clickatell’s products. The role will also form part of the Product Leadership team who works as a unit to direct Clickatell’s product portfolio to be in line with the overall business strategy. In this role, the individual will collaborate with Executives, our Engineering, Marketing, and Sales organizations, as well as other Product functions within the company.

Responsibilities of the Role

As a member of the global Clickatell Product Management and Product Leadership team, the successful candidate will own the end-to-end lifecycle of the assigned portfolio of platforms, portals, products, and various other shared services:

Manage the Product team who are custodians of Clickatell’s Payments and other Merchant Services and grow this team to be formidable contributors to the execution of Clickatell’s overall product strategy. Be a player and a coach.

Take ownership of the portfolio you are assigned and create a winning experience for Clickatell’s customers. Product Management is above all else a business function focused on maximizing business value from a product.

Drive corporate strategy by ensuring the vision, roadmap and development of common services across Clickatell’s product portfolio are aligned.

Be outward-focused and develop a deep understanding of the markets and customers that Clickatell engages with and the stage of maturity that Clickatell’s business is at. Use the knowledge to plan the right capabilities to roll out at the right time.

Develop a good understanding of the technology stack and the level of effort involved to enhance each component, as it will be crucial in making the right decisions to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Ensure effective coordination of common requirements across product teams where features need to be surfaced, provisioned and optimized via any of Clickatell’s common services.

Drive new common service initiatives and launches through all stages of the product development process including business cases, development, go-to-market, launch scheduling, training, and operationalization.

Manage product planning and delivery into a series of releases, and work with the Engineering and PMO teams to facilitate the rapid and accurate delivery of common service updates.

Be metrics-driven and do monthly and quarterly reporting on key common service metrics to ensure alignment and understanding across the business. Ensure that you have clear key performance indicators for each aspect of your portfolio and consistently analyze behavior and identify inhibitors and opportunities.

Develop operational procedures and other relevant documentation in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams both internally and externally to ensure optimal adoption of common technology components and processes across the business.

Engage on a regular basis with Support, Finance, Compliance and other teams, keeping them informed of releases, new developments, and major changes to the Common Services portfolio.

Participate in Product Leadership forums to analyze opportunities and develop the relevant artefacts such as business cases, functional reports, executive presentation material, etc.

Requirements of the Role

13+ years experience in product management at a senior level in a high performing environment, where tech and innovation are at the forefront (Software as a Service, Messaging, or Telecom experience is an advantage).

7+ years in a leadership role with people management responsibilities – including providing guidance and direction to product managers and serving as their line manager and coach.

5+ years in Payments or Product Fulfilment services (Product Inventory management, Delivery management SAAS)

Be customer-centric and metrics-driven. Know how to analyze the market, influence peers, and understand longer term product/market direction by staying informed and aligned with fellow product leaders and executives.

Align multiple teams, products, and strategies with Clickatell’s overarching product strategy and related objectives. Ensure that the development teams know what the vision of the product is and what the business value and drivers are for each phase/sprint of development.

Ensure functional specifications are made available on time and conduct specification reviews with product and development teams if and when required.

Possess excellent communication skills on technical and non-technical topics. Candidate will be required to interact with executives, multiple functional areas (Engineering, Design, Operations, Sales, and Marketing), external partners and customers.

Have a proven ability to prioritiz and manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously while keeping available resources and budgets in mind.

Have domain knowledge in delivering SaaS products for a B2B software provider.

Experience in managing software or telecommunication products at various stages of maturity, from legacy to new implementations.

Strong analytical skills is non-negotiable.

Have a keen interest in product management and be familiar with the tools of the trade and the various hats that a product manager wears on a day-to-day basis.

Experience working with Agile Methodology, SDLC and Scrum and demonstrated experience in managing end-to-end software product lifecycles.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Business degree/diploma (BBA, MBA, Business Analysis certification)
