Dispatcher (Telecommunications)

Velocity is looking for reliable Dispatch Coordinators to act as a communication point for our Velocity Field Technicians and customers. Current need is on first and second shift. This position works at least one weekend day each week.

This position can be worked at home after 1 week of ONSITE training.

Dispatch Coordinators receive requests, transmit messages and schedule technicians from the Velocity database to customer sites. This position involves verifying arrivals, negotiating pricing with technicians and following up on scheduled appointments. The goal is to enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in challenging situations. Ideal candidates also will be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision.

As a Dispatch Coordinator with Velocity, expect to:

• Dispatch jobs sent to us from our customers to the technicians in our database.
• Schedule appointments for the jobs with the technicians.
• Work with customers to gain access to job sites as required.
• Verify the technicians are not missing their appointments.
• Recruit technicians for current and/or future jobs.
• Coordinate getting “special” equipment to job sites for technicians to use.

This job might be for you if you:  

• Have a High school diploma or GED
• Have excellent telephone etiquette and portray confidence in speaking with people over the telephone
• Have knowledge of networking principles and technologies
• Consider yourself well organized
• Are proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Like to negotiate

Skills/Abilities:

• The ability to work as a team, but able to succeed when completing individual tasks
• Ability to learn and understand Velocity’s custom portals and systems
• Consistently demonstrate an unconditional polite, professional, patient and courteous manner in dealing with callers, visitors and all employees
