JOB SUMMARY
As a Door-to-Door Sales Representative, you will travel door-to-door to sell Smithville products and services. Using a script or persuasive techniques and marketing collateral, you will promote Smithville’s advantages (over competitors) and convince customers to purchase our products. Successful sales representatives manage their sales campaign activity, and you will do so using a company tablet and customized software. While independent, you must be a strong team player and develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
Responsibilities
- Travel to various neighborhoods and suburbs, going door-to-door to sell Smithville residential internet, voice, security, managed Wi-Fi, etc. (50%)
- Travel by foot or automobile to sell services on an unscheduled basis
- Work an assigned territory, often up to 100+ houses or locations daily to build the momentum needed to hit your sales goals
- Provide product details and collateral to inform customers of product features (10%)
- Suggest specific service purchases
- Convince clients to purchase products using a script or persuasive techniques (10%)
- Follow up consistently with prospects or non-responses
- Win back or upgrade current or former customers
- Manage sales campaign activity and updates through Salesforce and other sales tools (10%)
- Develop a prospect list or lead list in Salesforce
- Structure daily activity, sales metrics, and monthly to yearly goals
- Position the Smithville advantage over competitors (10%)
- Complete other duties as assigned (10%)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or educational equivalent
- 1 – 3 years of experience in a Sales or Customer Service role
- Experience selling door-to-door or over the phone, and cold calling is a plus!
- Ability to think on your feet and pivot quickly when selling to residential customers
- You are an excellent listener and communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written forms
- Must have a neat and presentable appearance with a polite and compassionate demeanor
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Unrelenting goal-setting and sales quotas motivate you, but not as much as your own drive to succeed and to be your best
- Capable of tracking sales activity using a company tablet and smartphone
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record; ability to travel to customer sites is required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to work to deadlines
Typical Working Conditions
- Typically works 40 hours per week; may work overtime, evenings, and/or weekends as needed to meet critical deadlines or respond to problems
- Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (50%)
- Indoors in a temperature-controlled environment (25%)
- Outdoors but in an enclosed vehicle or temporary shelter protected from extreme weather conditions (25%)
- Use of a Smithville company vehicle during business hours and trips; ability to travel to customer sites is required
- Continuous walking, standing, sitting, close vision, talking, and hearing
