Job Summary

This position represents a senior electrical engineer, which will specialize on mission critical telecom and/or high voltage power transmission and distribution systems. The incumbent will be part of the NAV CANADA Facility Systems and Infrastructure multi-discipline engineering team, responsible for architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems at over 100 staffed and 1000 un-staffed facilities. For electrical systems, this includes but is not limited to, electrical transmission distribution systems, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, batteries, alternative energy solutions, fire alarm systems, telecom transmission and distribution systems, and high voltage power transmission and distribution systems.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
The incumbent will be a lead engineering authority for NAV CANADA telecom and/or high voltage power transmission and distribution systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, project development, project management support, design requirements, construction support, maintenance requirements, system commissioning, system designs, field support, and/or any other life cycle engineering activities required.

It is possible that the incumbent will assume responsibility for other facility electrical systems and/or infrastructure in the future.
Job Requirements
Education/Occupational Certification:
    • A recognized degree in electrical engineering, and/or eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in the field of electrical engineering in Canada
Experience:
  • Significant experience with electrical engineering in the fields of either telecom or high voltage power transmission and distribution systems. Significant experience in both fields is not required but is considered an asset.
  • Experience with project development, project management, field support, maintenance, system commissioning, system designs in the fields of telecom and high voltage power transmission and distribution is considered an asset
  • Experience with Technical Writing
Knowledge:
  • Significant knowledge of the theory and application of the principles of electrical engineering
  • Significant knowledge of telecom transmission and distribution systems and/or high voltage power transmission and distribution systems
  • Knowledge of the federal, provincial, and local regulatory codes and practices relevant to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems
  • Knowledge of the National Master Specifications
  • Knowledge and experience with the following software applications:
    • AutoCad
    • Microsoft Office (work, outlook, excel, power point)
    • Microsoft Visio
