Reporting to the Director of Project Operations, IT is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Technician to join its Halifax operations team to support marine operations. The position, located at the Port of Halifax – Pier 9A, provides an excellent working environment, opportunity for growth and learning, a complete benefits package as well as an attractive compensation package.
Job Description
The purpose of this role is to work among a team with various skillsets to maintain and operate electrical/hydraulic equipment. While in the shop in Halifax, this role will maintain the equipment and ensure it is ready to be deployed into the field. This role will also operate the gear while in the field. Approximately 3 months travel per year is typical.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure the ongoing working condition of all machinery and equipment
- Perform all scheduled preventative maintenance
- Mobilize equipment on vessels based on the project requirements
- Maintain required company maintenance documentation such as: daily operating logs, end of project summaries, equipment defect reports and consumable reports.
- Advise Shop Foreman of the operational readiness of all cable equipment
What you must have/be:
- Technical College diploma, preferable electrical. Knowledge of hydraulics is considered an asset. 3 – 5 years equivalent experience in a related field.
- Excellent communications skills required, both written and verbal
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong organization, time-management, and analytical skills
- Basic MS Microsoft Office experience required
- Forklift license, rigging training and first aid training are all considered assets
