Job Detail

• Description:* Duties: Aston Carter’s client in Port Coquitlam is looking to add an Estimator to their team. This role is best suited to someone can building responses to project requests. Projects vary from $2,000 – $800,000+. Responsibilities Estimating
• Review tender specifications, floor plans and addendums to assist in preparation of bid responses.
• Develop materials lists for bid responses
• Work with distributors to obtain quotes and availability for materials
• Work with cabling manufacturers to obtain pricing concessions when applicable
• Conduct site walks when applicable to determine and/or refine requirements
• Develop labor estimates
• Communicate with contractors and customers during the bidding process
• Assemble and submit bid response documentation
• Assist in the development of systems and processes
• Complete sales handover documentation for awarded projects, and assist with handover process
• Assist with monitoring various bid sources for new prospects General
• Contribute to a culture of team building and continuous improvement.
• Create and updates processes, procedures, checklists, and other documentation.
• Attend regular meetings, daily huddles, and other meetings as requested.
• Assist with other duties as required.

• Additional Skills & Qualifications:* Must Haves:
• Years of experience:

5+ years’ experience in a combination of CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, structured cabling, fiber-optic cabling, and other physical technology infrastructure sectors.

• 3+ years of estimating experience
• Expert knowledge of in-building infrastructure operations and project delivery.
• A firm understanding of industry standards and wiring methods.
• Possess the ability to read and understand technical manuals, documentation packages, schematic wiring diagrams, block and level diagrams, factory wiring diagrams, etc.
• Demonstrate a firm grasp on basic and advanced installation techniques and operating procedures.
• Communication: Strong command of the English language
• MS Office experience: YES
• Education: Post-secondary Diploma or Certificate, ideally in a relevant field (Electronics, telecommunications, information technology) Nice to Have:
• BC Security Worker License (preferred)
• Software: Experience working within a CRM Soft Skills:
• Ability to manage around tight deadlines and still get the details right.
• Ability to quantitively and qualitatively analyses and design solutions to operational problems.
