Valo Networks is a leading telecommunications contractor. We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Fiber Optic Splicers / Cable placement team members to join our outside plant (OSP) field operations team in Alberta for permanent, full-time positions. Fiber Optic Splicer / Cable placement team members are involved in all facets of splicing including cable placement, cable preparation, fusion-splicing, testing, and troubleshooting. You will be working in Red Deer, AB.


SHIFT INFORMATION:

  • 8-hour working day
  • Monday to Friday schedule

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber sites and links
  • Well rounded in cable placement experience (Hand placement, Hydraulic tugging, Jetting)
  • Documenting and reporting on completed telecommunication work
  • Maintaining project and telecom safety documentation
  • Inspecting fiber routes and hub sites as preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labeled
  • Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault
  • Reviewing engineered plans and blueprints
  • Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of fiber optic assemblies and systems
  • Construct new telecom facilities and repair/rehab existing telecom facilities to a high quality standard
  • Handle & splice during cutovers as needed per customer
  • Install a variety of splice cases
  • Work with customers to provide a premium product with a high level of customer service

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • CFOT certificate OR relevant experience
  • Must be skilled & proficient with color coded cable and count identification
  • Must be able to read prints and have familiarity with redlines
  • Ability to work in underground (confined spaces), buried and aerial environments
  • Ability to work sitting down or standing up or in awkward positions for long periods of time
  • Comfortable pulling trailers of different sizes
  • Ability to work in a team environment, independently or self-motivate
  • Must be able to lift 50LBs
  • OSP cable jetting experience
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Fluent in English
  • Travel required, valid drivers license and reliable vehicle are necessary
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required

Preferred location:

  • Job-based in South and Central Alberta
  • We will consider candidates from Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer areas
