Summary:

Splice and test various types of fiber (ribbon, loose tube and tight buffered fibre) cables for inside and outside plant.

Experience:

Previous experience on Rogers and Bell Network in fiber optic splicing and testing in an Inside and Outside Plant Environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of fibre optic projects and as-builts
  • Ability to read and interpret splice assignments and maps
  • OTDR & iOLM Testing, troubleshooting and repair. Sound knowledge of HFC and Fibre Optic Networks.
  • Familiarity with various splice enclosures, how to operate them and how to access them from confined spaces, vaults and/or aerial strands.
  • Build new splice enclosures and or add new cables to existing enclosures for cable sizes 6 FOC to 864 FOC.
  • Fusion Splice Outside Plant.
  • Fusion Splice inside existing buildings and new construction MDU. Structured cabling required for building splice enclosures (LCP/NAP).
  • Install splice boxes, patch panels and fibre terminations.
  • Use of test equipment and fault locators required.
  • Auditing OSP Enclosures. Follow all relevant and required health and safety measures.
  • Maintain onsite safety documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Will work at heights near hydro and within confined spaces.
  • Must be able to carry and also climb a twenty eight foot extension ladder weighing 80 pounds
  • Will set up and work safely on high traffic roads according to Book 7 standards
  • Will work in all weather conditions, day, night, or weekends with possible overnight stays
  • Great Problem solving skills
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Motivated, organized and can work well independently or with in a team.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid Ontario G Class Drivers License

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.62-$33.88 per hour
