Fiber Optic Technician

Job Summary

Seletech is seeking experienced Fiber Optic Splicers to join our team. Working out of our Calgary office, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, splicing and testing of fiber optic cables. We are seeking someone with time management, communication, and customer service skills. Team orientated as well as taking pride in all aspects of work an asset.

Accountabilities

· Ribbon and Loose Tube Fibre splicing.

· Confidently build new FOSC’s as well as enter existing facilities.

· Capable of troubleshooting alignment issues and basic technical problems.

· Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and blueprints.

· Pull/Prepare/place underground cables in existing conduit systems.

· Maintain company equipment in excellent condition.

· Maintain records and support documentation on all work orders.

· Adhere to all applicable health and safety regulations.

· Microsoft Office knowledge – Able to use Excel, word etc..

· Must be Legally entitled to work in Canada.

· Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required

· Job Types: Full-time Hourly $28.00-$38.00 Benefits after probationary period.

Experience/Qualifications

· Must have a valid Alberta Driver’s license – with clean abstract

· Bucket Truck knowledge and experience would be an asset.

· Valid Standard First Aid Training.

· Valid Aerial Lift and Fall Protection Training.

· Valid Confined Space Training.

· Previous experience in cable placing.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Physically able to perform job aspects in all weather conditions. (Climb ladders, medium to heavy lifting).
