Responsibilities:
- Performing work operations in connection with providing communications service
- Fibre-splicing for distribution & service fibre cables
- Fibre Dressing, all Type Enclosures: Coyote Runt/WSB/Pedestal Box
- Working with various types of fiber splice enclosures
- Testing fiber with the use of an OTDR, Power Meter, Live Fibre Identifier, VFL
- Enter buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, handhole and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks
- Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures
- Completing all related administrative tasks, time and material reporting, inspection reports, inventory reports, etc.
- Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company
- Other duties as required by the Manager
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-year work experience with fiber splicing, line work
- Familiarity with optical test equipment such as power meter, OTDR is an asset
- Knowledge of inside and outside plant facilities
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job which include lifting or carrying 50 lbs, clearly identifying colored cables, as well as working in adverse weather conditions
- Certification in confined space and/or first aid CPR is an asset
- Excellent communication, inter-personal skills, teamwork and collaborative abilities
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and a good driver’s abstract
- Must have an own vehicle, able commute between office and work sites
- Knowledge Of Bonding and Grounding Telecommunications Plant
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $25.00-$38.00 per hour
