About us
V&J was founded in 2008 as a service-disabled veteran owned business starting out with construction consulting and project design. V&J has grown to provide fiber optic services, low voltage services, Katapulting, project management, and construction consulting. We specialize in health care, education, commercial, and federal markets. Our staff has over 40 years of experience in facilitating and managing projects in the built environment as well as nearly a decade of experience in fiber and low voltage.
SCOPE OF WORK: Employee will be part of a two man splice crew. Responsibilities include ability to splice, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber cables in both indoor and outdoor settings. Must be able to read, understand, and edit splice packages from customers using a PDF editor. Employee will also be expected to update V&J’s project tracker on a daily basis prior to leaving any jobsite. Employee will need to effectively communicate with the Operations Manger and fiber engineers on a daily basis. Employee will be required to get an OSHA 10 hour certification after being hired. Employee will be responsible for proper preparation and splicing of fiber optic cables as well as material handling. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure, familiarity with various types of fiber optic cable and splice enclosures, and splicing equipment. Experience with ariel construction is a plus, but is not required. Must be familiar with: * OTDR Testing * OLTS Testing * Fusion splicing equipment Necessary Qualifications: * Ability to read fiber matrices * Ability to interpret and analyze data * Identify and troubleshoot problems * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds * Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record * Must be able to differentiate color codes * Must have reliable transportation Character Requirements: * Utilize safe work habits * Keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion * Work well within a team * Ability to communicate well with staff and clients * Ability to work well under pressure and deadline environments. * Ability to handle on-call responsibilities as needed * Exhibit enthusiasm and determination Qualifications * EDUCATION: High school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies. * PREFERRED EXPERIENCE – 3+ years of splicing experience * BONUS EXPERIENCE – Knowledge of ariel construction
