Apex Group is a leading Engineering and construction services company providing turnkey engineering construction solutions to Telecom, Cable, and Electric Utilities.

Apex is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer that is proficient in both outside and inside plant splicing.

***This position will require traveling***

Responsibilities

• Must be well versed in ribbon splicing, ribbonizing fiber, splitting ribbons
• Must be familiar with outside and inside plant fiber splicing and cable pulling
• Ability to read and understand Fiber design prints
• Build splice cases using all types and sizes.
• Ability to verify design viability, and create accurate as builds of final splicing work completed
• Proficient in fiber color codes, in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicer, traffic identifier, power meter and OTDR
• Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficiently
• Perform underground construction activities, including but not limited to, pulling new cable/fiber through short conduits, opening underground vaults or pedestals making minor repairs if required
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
• Knowledge in FTTH projects, OTDR testing, and splicing appreciated

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience splicing fiber optic cable
• Have knowledge of telecommunications network structure
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Basic PC software skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, AutoCAD Map Viewer.
• Must have the ability to operate hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets) and ladders for hard-to-reach poles (Ex. Backyards)
• Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safe manner
• Must be punctual, responsible and well organized

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift

Experience:

• Fiber splicing: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver’s License (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

• 100% (Preferred)

Work Location: On the road
