Responsibilities:

  • Performing work operations in connection with providing communications service
  • Fibre-splicing for distribution & service fibre cables
  • Fibre Dressing, all Type Enclosures: Coyote Runt/WSB/Pedestal Box
  • Working with various types of fiber splice enclosures
  • Testing fiber with the use of an OTDR, Power Meter, Live Fibre Identifier, VFL
  • Enter buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, handhole and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures
  • Completing all related administrative tasks, time and material reporting, inspection reports, inventory reports, etc.
  • Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company
  • Other duties as required by the Manager

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-year work experience with fiber splicing, line work
  • Familiarity with optical test equipment such as power meter, OTDR is an asset
  • Knowledge of inside and outside plant facilities
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job which include lifting or carrying 50 lbs, clearly identifying colored cables, as well as working in adverse weather conditions
  • Certification in confined space and/or first aid CPR is an asset
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal skills, teamwork and collaborative abilities
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and a good driver’s abstract
  • Must have an own vehicle, able commute between office and work sites
  • Knowledge Of Bonding and Grounding Telecommunications Plant

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $25.00-$38.00 per hour

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • GTA, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
