Scope of Services
Fibre Technicians are involved in all facets of fiber splicing including cable preparation, termination, fusion-splicing, testing and troubleshooting.

- Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
- Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
- Self-disciplined, motivated and organized
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
- Documenting and reporting on completed telecommunication work
- Maintaining project and telecom safety documentation
- Inspecting fiber routes and hub sites as preventative maintenance
- Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
- Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault
- Reviewing engineered plans and blueprints
Experience Required:
- 2+ years Fibre Optic splicing experience
- Technical training considered an asset
- Previous telecommunications experience and testing for improved experience
- Experience using FO troubleshooting tools (i.e. OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.)
- Experience with electrical or working around power
- Engineering experience considered an asset
- Preference given to those with additional experience or FTTX / FTTH project experience
- Field experience in outside plant (OSP) operations
Requirements
- High school Diploma;
- Clean Drivers Abstract
- Valid Drivers licence
- Clear Criminal Back Check
