Fiber Technician/Splicer

MTP Communications is the areas’ fastest growing telecommunications construction team, serving the leading fiber providers throughout New England. We are currently seeking experienced Fiber Technician/Splicers to install, splice and test fiber cable in all environments including inside plant, aerial and underground. Preferred candidates will have at least 1 year splicing experience and ability to do all job responsibilities.

• Must have good verbal and written communication skills with employees, customer and providers in a clear and professional manner.
• Have knowledge of telecommunications network structure, with the ability to understand and follow splicing assignments/design.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Self-motivated able to work both independently and with team.
• Prepare and splice variety of both ISP/OSP cables, with an attention to detail using single and mass fusion splicers.
• Install various types of splice enclosures and termination panels.
• Test, document, and report results utilizing OTDR, power meter
• Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and as team player
• Able to operate a bucket truck to complete assignments as needed
• Complete daily production reports
• Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary
• Basic maintenance of provided vehicle; kept clean, organized and check fluids daily
• Driver’s license with clean driving record
