Field Engineering Specialist

FICOA Communications is a Broadband Contracting company located in Buford, Georgia. We specialize in construction, technical support, maintenance and engineering of Coax and Fiber Optic networks. We conduct maintenance on legacy network components, implement new technology for network upgrades, fiber integration and overlays, and all types of outside and inside plant construction for the telecommunications industry. We are seeking entry level candidates, as well as telecom or industry related personnel, which meet minimum physical and aptitude requirements. Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Competently perform Site Surveys, Routing and other Field Engineering functions

· Train to conduct Pole Audits, locating UG facilities, and perform 811 field markings

· Verification of construction projects for QC and as-built information

· 40-hour work week

· Comply with OSHA and industry safety requirements

· Ensure work completed is neat and professional manner per company guidelines

· Possess good planning, organizational and logical problem-solving skills

· Work well with people, as well as individual assignments to complete jobs

· Highly motivated and willingness to adapt to all types of projects as required

· Potential emergency response assessment, when storm damage or disasters cause network outages

· Able to potentially perform physical labor when required (lifting in excess 75 pounds, i.e. Hand/Manholes) in all outdoor weather environments

Position Requirements:

· Familiar with Telecommunications field engineering

· General computer skills

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

· Ability/Willingness to gather field information in all types of conditions

· Attend field meetings when required to gather site information for coordination of current projects

· Willingness to train in other skill sets (flagging, damage assessment, locating, etc.) required by customers from time to time

Experience and other requirements:

· Train to read DOT plan sheets/strand maps

· Knowledge of State and Municipal permitting requirements a plus

· Possess good communications skills

· Pass a pre-employment background check, DMV and drug screening

· Pass E-Verify and job specific certifications

· General Broadband or Telecommunications knowledge a plus

· Reliable transportation to commute to work

FICOA offers medical benefits after 90 days. We offer overtime on work conducted on emergencies, and on call pay when required. Employee can earn vacation and sick pay after (6) months with company. Eng. Applicants starting pay of $20/hr. Company offers additional compensation on a production basis for work conducted outside normal business hours and emergency disaster support when required. Incentive pay is also available for weekend work when company timelines warrant work to be conducted outside typical working hours.
