Field Equipment Mechanic – HD Virtual Hiring Event

Being a field mechanic is unique among service jobs: there is travel to customer sites, a flexible schedule, responsibility for a company vehicle, the need for significant customer interaction, the ability to take ownership of administrative tasks, as well as having the skill set to perform the technical work. If this is for you, Altec gives the training, tools, and support so necessary for success.

This position involves troubleshooting, diagnostics, major component change-outs, and preventive maintenance of truck-mounted hydraulic utility equipment. Altec’s primary products include Aerial Devices, Digger Derricks, Cranes, and Specialty Equipment.

Preferred:

  • Previous field mechanic and/or equipment service experience
  • Education in hydraulics, mechanics, electronic, and low voltage electrical.
  • Experience with HD equipment, aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes; or construction, mining, farm equipment such as excavators, skid steers, dozers or tractors; or military heavy equipment such as the MRAP vehicle, HMEE, or tanks; aircraft and aerospace or ground support equipment (AGE / GSE) or similar

Required:

  • High School Diploma, province-approved High School Equivalency, or GED
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Physical effort to move objects and tools that may weigh up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling
  • A high level of dexterity
  • Ability to drive motor vehicles
  • Ability to provide tools per the Altec tool policy as needed
  • Ability to develop basic computer skills with Microsoft office
  • Travel is required including overnight with the need to adapt to flexible schedules
  • Ability to support customer by working overtime
