Job Summary:

An Installation Supervisor oversees, specializes and participates in installing, disconnecting, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment to provide residential and business customers with broad-band high speed data services. This person ensures that installations are completed within specified timelines and that best and safe practices are maintained during installations.

Essential Functions:

  • Install and maintain internet service as well as VoIP equipment and routers for residential and business customers which includes completing service calls, installations, sight tests, and all tasks assigned through CRM
  • Submit required record-keeping, auditing and quality control paperwork
  • Assist customers on proper use of services
  • Supervise installers including but not limited to establishing and maintaining a cooperative and effective working relationships with them, communicating expectations and level of performance, scheduling of jobs, retraining as needed, and assisting with the acquisition of the tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Interview, hire, and train new installers
  • Assist in resolving customer-related issues or complaints that arise
  • Re-testing of questionable NLOS surveys
  • Supervise quality control on installations including but not limited to periodically conducting quality control inspections to make certain all NextLink employees are following safety guidelines and procedures and installations are professionally completed
  • Manage the inventory for remote office
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Plan, prioritize and organize duties and responsibilities
  • Attend in-service training, conferences and meetings, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • An Installation Supervisor is placed on a 60-day probationary period and must acquire the CRM Competency Certificate within this 30 day period to remain in this position.
  • Monitor technicians daily jobs through Dispatch and Billmax applications and ensure that all jobs are handled to Nextlink policy
  • Verify scheduling and routing with Dispatch daily to ensure efficiency
  • Conduct spot checks on technicians routinely
  • Work with the Quality Control Manager and run quality checks on installs and service calls after completion as needed to verify that everything was done to Nextlink/customer specification
  • Verify Non-Line-of-Sight jobs and re-test per Quality Control Manager
  • Attend weekly and/or bi-weekly team/departmental meetings
  • Monitor phone/email after hours in the event that a SLA (service-level agreement) is needed to be filled
  • Assist teams with field training
  • Conduct monthly in-house training and refreshers for technicians
  • Monitor van status (cleanliness, vehicle maintenance and GPS location) and ensure that fleet vehicles are being used per policy
  • Locate areas where new towers would be beneficial and/or locate potential tower hosts and send up all pertinent information
  • Act as a liaison on site at remote facilities as necessary or deemed required by management
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining warehouse/storage units as necessary
  • Conduct monthly inventory counts on vehicles and/or warehouse/storage units
  • Complete projects as assigned by management
  • Assist and report to management as needed

Skills:

  • As new technologies are developed, an Installation Supervisor must constantly update their skill sets to stay current.
  • This person must model Nextlink’s company values, provide outstanding customer service, and work with team to exceed customer expectations.
  • Must be able to work independently and must have basic mathematics and engineering skills to perform duties and to troubleshoot.
  • In servicing and installing residential and business customers, an Installation Supervisor must have the ability to operate hand tools including but not limited to step and/or extension ladders, electric drills, hammers, wrenches, and screwdriver.
  • Must be able to operate appropriate computer and/or test equipment associated with installation, testing, and diagnostics and to accurately measure distances using tapes and other measuring devices.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must pass a drug screening test and a criminal background check.
  • Must have a general knowledge of Cat5 standards and grounding standards for residential and business environments.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Tower Climber Certificate
  • Previous experience in supervising personnel is preferred

  • Working in outdoor elements such as cold, hot, precipitation and wind
  • In proximity of heavy machinery and moving vehicles

  • High level of interaction with external/internal clients

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently moving, transporting, positioning objects of at least 75 pounds or more
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
  • Must be able to climb roof tops of all types and to perform job duties from high places.
  • Must be able to work in small/confined areas
  • Must be able to pull own body weight plus equipment weight up roofs and vertical tower repeatedly
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, sit, and climb ladders and communication towers and work in an elevated position
  • Frequently required to use hand and power tools

Working Hours/Days:

  • Full Time
  • Min 40 hours, flexible schedule
  • Overtime as needed

Travel Requirements:

  • 0-30% travel required
