POSITION: Field Service Technician (customer onsite)
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
DIVISION: SSS-SES
LOCATION: Toronto, ON
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Field Service Technician will be responsible for providing clients of Stanley Black & Decker’s technical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair services as well as constant and efficient after-sales service and support in the areas of Electronic Intrusion Detection, Card Access, Fire Monitoring and CCTV systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Service intrusion monitoring, fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and other security alarm equipment as per guidelines and or/manufacturer’s recommendations observing system designed as provided by Sales Engineer/Project Manager
- Run electrical wiring in attics, crawl spaces and other confined spaces, which can include drilling, trenching and aerial runs.
- Complete all wiring, connections, and equipment installations ensuring that security systems are complete and satisfy customer and contractual requirements.
- Assist and interface with the Installation Team Lead or Project Manager regarding on-site scheduling of work activities and timely delivery of equipment.
- Updating the dispatcher on the status of all calls, completed or work-in-progress, on a per call basis
- Provide assistance, guidance, supervision, and on-the-job training to junior technicians.
- Proper documentation of installation issues/actions/resolutions both internally and externally (site visit reports, acceptance forms, service tickets, etc.)
- Maintaining service vehicle stock of all parts, supplies and equipment and ensuring that all used stock is diligently recorded on work orders and inventory logs
- Participating in training sessions as required by the company in order to maintain adequate levels of skills and knowledge.
- Promote, build, and maintain good customer relations and assists with contract retention.

REQUIREMENTS:
- College diploma in computer science, electronics, or telecommunications an asset
- Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
- 1-3 years’ experience installing access control systems and/or CCTV equipment, and/or fire alarms systems
- Construction, field sales, or field service experience an asset
- Skills in computer networking LAN/WAN
- Prior training in WSIB, WHIMS and other safety programs would be an asset
- Must be capable of meeting the following physical demands including, but not limited to: standing and working in a standing position for long periods of time, carrying and climbing ladders, lifting or carrying weights of 50-75 lbs, sitting while driving for periods of up to 2 hours, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling and twisting spine occasionally
- Ability to work on-call rotation to cover after hours and weekend emergency calls when necessary
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
