Field Technician/ Outside Plant
The Field Technician will service, maintain, repair and install wireless equipment. This position is customer facing and requires strong communication and presentation skills coupled with a commitment to service excellence. The ideal candidate is a top performer that is self-starting, efficient and forward thinking. Ideal candidates would have an impeccable track record and reputation in the telecommunications industry (wireless, satellite, cable installation experience is inline and transferable). Primary tasks will be customer installations with technical/installation support.
Reports to: Outside Plant Manager
Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions:
- Install, configure, and support indoor & outdoor fixed wireless customer premises equipment
- Install, operate and maintain fixed wireless network and equipment
- Install, terminate, and test CAT5/6, and fiber cabling
- Install antenna mounting hardware
- Test/Troubleshoot network issues
- Terminate Cat 5/5e/6 Patch Panels
- Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues involving internet connectivity, email clients, Wireless, VOIP, Hotspot and more
- Research required information using network management systems (NMS) or other network management software
- Capable of creating and executing policy and procedures (new or enhanced)
- Follow industry and line of business standard processes and procedures
- Identify, diagnose, and escalate priority network and client related issues and redirect to appropriate resource if required
- Accurately process and record call transactions using a computer and designated tracking software to ensure proper customer service
- Offer alternative solutions where appropriate with the objective of retaining customers’ and clients’ business
- Proficient with all job related hardware systems, and software applications
- Dynamic and flexible with other reasonably related duties, as assigned
Skill and Knowledge Qualifications:
- Experience with Pulling, Terminating, and Testing of both Cat5 & Fiber Optics is desired
- Proper phone etiquette
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be dynamic, flexible and strong team player
- Demonstrated proficiency in typing and grammar
- Knowledge of relevant software computer applications and equipment
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Effective listening skills
- Willingness to co-operate with others and work to the greater good
- Multi-tasking capabilities
- Occasional weekend work (On-Call Schedule)
- Understanding of RF principles a plus
- Experience with MIMO technologies
- Ability to work at a fast pace installing potentially dozens of users a week
- Familiar with frequencies in the ISM and UNII FCC bands
- Experience with Ubiquiti AirMAX and UniFi systems a plus
- CPR and First Aid certifications a plus

Conditions:
- Must be able to work at height
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 70lbs
