This position will be focusing primarily on our Energy Systems line of business, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

Job Purpose

Provide technical support for EnerSys batteries and systems. Provide an on-site presence to engage customers and lead the team to deliver quality service. Leverage experience to mentor team members in the areas of Health and Safety, quality, standards, and best practices. This role will be expected to help achieve financial targets by driving both revenue and margin.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, but not limited to: warranty policies, Federal & Provincial safety standards, Transportation of Dangerous Goods

Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean working environment

Is directly responsible for company assets such as service vehicle, inventory, tools, laptops, and test equipment

Maintains truck log, if necessary, according to provincial and or federal requirements

Maintains good communication with Field Supervisor and/or Manager (Project Management team)

Completes and submits reports as required

Coordination of (Verify) shipping and receiving, and in the field: material audits to identify shortages

Installation of DC power plants, BDFB’s, inverters, UPS, and DC Battery systems

Perform commissioning of DC power plants, inverters, and battery conductance readings, testing of system and equipment alarms

Perform rectifier and inverter module swaps, and updating system inventories

Perform Preventative Maintenance routines, which would include completing reports and data analysis to identify key areas where the clients’ systems are at risk or could be improved

Install data cabinets, cable tray infrastructure, including load bearing auxiliary systems, fiber optic raceways, grounding and alarm connections

Potential Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Establish and enforce performance standards and build rapport with Sub-trades

Document and make available to the Project Management Team (PMO) the information on the progress of subcontractors and others providing labour, material, or services to the Project

Keep a daily log available to the PMO team as required. Escalate any significant project issues related to scope, quality, or timing

Submit daily written progress reports to the Construction (Project) Manager, including scheduling information

Maintain at the Place of the Project, on a current basis, drawings, samples, purchases, materials, equipment, maintenance and operating manuals and instructions, and other construction-related documents, including all Scope Changes in the Project and additional revisions

Maintain a safe workplace and ensure all work is completed in compliance with all applicable safety laws and codes, including all Signage and Construction Zone Identification

Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced

Conduct regular on-site inspections and safety meetings

Qualifications

Requires 4+ years of related experience

Able to travel to support in-field operations

Required to complete RP101, RP201, or Power Systems equivalent

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Teams

Strong mechanical aptitude

Able to work and demonstrate safe work procedures with hand and power tools

Able to comprehend and compose documents such as customer correspondence, technical manuals, memos, and reports in English and/or French

Able to perform math calculations and measurements

High School Diploma or equivalent

An aptitude for applying learnings to on-the-job requirements

Strong organizational and planning skills

Ability to make recommendations to resolve issues in the field

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced electrical understanding – able to identify and mitigate risks related to electrical circuits

The ability to use test equipment and interpret the collected readings/data

The ability to read electrical and construction schematics

Post-secondary certificate/diploma or Red Seal Trade Certification (an asset)
