Field Technician

The Field Technician supports and maintains SafeSpeed systems around the Chicagoland area including: digital cameras, computers and network equipment. The Field Technician also provides troubleshooting, quality assurance and resolution of hardware, software and network related issues including installation and configuration of new equipment and provides preventative maintenance of equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots equipment and systems, and provides preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Provides quality assurance and resolution of hardware, software and network related issues.
- Installs equipment, runs and pulls cable, programs and calibrates equipment while adhering to codes, regulations and standards.
- Assists with the installation and configuration of new equipment and assists in the administration of Linux machines.
- Assists in maintaining accurate records through documenting installations, services and repairs.
- Assists in maintaining a safe work environment by following safe practices and adhering to safety policies.
- Assists in ensuring adequate supply levels by inventorying stock.
- Updates and improves job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A+ certification or equivalent IT experience a plus
- Linux command line familiarity a plus; willingness to learn required
- Six months’ experience in telecommunications, electrical, construction, or related field preferred
- Working knowledge of handheld electronics, including smart phones, iPad, etc., preferred
- Digital photography and quality assurance experience are added pluses
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of inventory software systems, a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work out of a boom truck up to 40 feet high
- Must be able to work full-time, and an “on call” rotation which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, as required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in the primary state of residence
- Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions, including precipitation and temperature variations
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to speak clearly, concisely, and to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner
- Solid written communication skills required
- Must be able to expect and embrace change

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 – $29.00 per hour

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
