RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Field Technician in Sacramento, CA to support Oil & Gas Utility Projects. This is a hybrid position with work from home and working in the field.

Summary
May work independently or with a helper to gather detailed information on utility poles, electrical distribution and telecommunication lines, pole attachments, wire heights and any other information necessary for the purpose of pole loading, permitting, design planning, and/or drafting.

Responsibilities

  • Reliable and consistent attendance
  • Collects accurate and complete data for permits, easements, and right of ways in a timely manner
  • Able to identify most pole attachments
  • Visiting job sites to take measurements on poles and clearances of conductors
  • Taking pictures of job sites including the poles and conductors
  • Upload notes and pictures, field measurements for engineers and designers
  • Use 3D modeling to determine pole heights and strengths and clearances of conductors
  • Interact professionally with clients, property owners, contractors, and developers as needed
  • Traverse terrain that can be at times difficult to access and/or in remote areas
  • General knowledge of electrical utility practices and safety
  • Work closely with other divisions within the company
  • Ability to interpret and understand field sheet notes, schematics, maps, and drawings
  • Produce routine and project specific correspondence in a neat, timely, and legible manner
  • Track time spent on jobs, the mileage and materials needed to perform duties
  • Follows and ensures others follow general safety guidelines and are wearing appropriate PPE

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of AutoCAD
  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience in telecommunications and/or electrical utilities
  • Must have reliable transportation and have a valid driver’s license
  • Basic working knowledge of general computer applications, including Windows and MS Office product, specifically Word and Excel
  • Ability to understand instructions and independently carry out instructed tasks
  • Able to use a measuring device and understand units of measure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and customer skills
  • Unquestioned business and personal integrity
  • Position will be 70/30 field work

Working Conditions and Environmental/Physical Demands

The position requires manual dexterity, standing, walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of a passenger truck multiple times a day, bending, kneeling, sitting for extended periods, and crouching. The employee will occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires the ability to hear, speak, and/or signal people to convey potential or actual safety hazards and exchange information to include receiving assignments or direction from co-workers and supervisors. Work is performed primarily outdoors and involves driving to and from different job sites. Some work is performed inside in a professional office setting with routine use of office equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour

Experience:
