Field Technician

RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Field Technician in Portland, OR. This is a full-time, contract to permanent hire, hybrid field/remote assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation, and holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as a Field Technician

Field Technician applies developing technical expertise to solve simple problems, and management skills to provide oversight of work in a specific area of developing expertise, with close supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills in their field of study, and the ability to work with some degree of independence. In this role you will work 3 days in the field and 2 days remote.

As a Field Technician YOU will:

• Collect accurate and complete data for permits, easements, and right of ways in a timely manner.
• Visit job sites to take measurements on poles and clearances of conductors.
• Take pictures of job sites including the poles and conductors.
• Upload notes and pictures, field measurements for engineers and designers.
• Use 3D modeling to determine pole heights and strengths and clearances of conductors.
• Interact professionally with clients, property owners, contractors, and developers as needed.
• Traverse terrain that can be at times difficult to access and/or in remote areas.
• Work closely with other divisions within the company.
• Interpret and understand field sheet notes, schematics, maps, and drawings.
• Produce routine and project specific correspondence in a neat, timely, and legible manner.
• Track time spent on jobs, the mileage and materials needed to perform duties.
• Follow and ensure others follow general safety guidelines and are wearing appropriate PPE.

YOU are the ideal Field Technician candidate if you have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of AutoCAD experience.
• Minimum 2 years of previous experience in telecommunications and/or electrical utilities
• Reliable transportation and have a valid driver’s license.
• Basic working knowledge of general computer applications, including Windows and MS Office product, specifically Word and Excel.
• Ability to understand instructions and independently carry out instructed tasks.
• Ability to use a measuring device and understand units of measure.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication and customer skills.

It’s a BONUS if you:

• Associates Degree in Engineering
• More than 2 years of AutoCAD experience

Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
