JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: FIELD TECHNICIAN – IN-BUILDING TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS (DAS)

DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS

REPORTS TO: AREA MANAGER

SUMMARY: Performs DAS installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting activities for assigned construction projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately completes all necessary paperwork including but not limited to work orders, service orders, time logs, and schedules.
  • Maintains control of assigned equipment to ensure adequate stock levels and safe operating condition; participates in form inventory process on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Safely operates assigned company equipment and ensures that it is maintained according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Exhibits appearance and conduct in accordance with established company standards to present a professional image to customers and the public; maintains the highest degree of decency, honesty, and integrity.
  • Supports the successful completion of project schedules, tasks as assigned, and control of construction activities.
  • Provide on-site project presence throughout project life cycle as assigned.
  • Support the completion of project daily and weekly Reports.
  • Performs the installation of Telecom Equipment, Infrastructure, Cabling, and related components.
  • Performs the testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of all equipment, cabling & related components.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of OSHA requirements; implements OSHA guidelines and programs; enforces established safety guidelines and promotes a safe workplace; conducts regular safety meetings with workers.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of telecommunications industry standards including, but not limited to; ANSI, Telcordia, TIA; Participates in the research and development of new construction materials and methods as required.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge operational knowledge of industry test equipment including, but not limited to, Anritsu, Kaelus, JDSU, Fluke.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of industry OEM specifications including, but not limited to,

CommScope, Corning, Ericsson, JMA.

  • Possesses and maintains in depth knowledge of the installation and maintenance of Telecom DC power systems including, but not limited to, Rectifiers, Inverters, Converters, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. o Required: High School Graduate or GED Experience

  • Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including, but not limited to, Outlook,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, and communicate.
  • Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Frequent exposure to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise (examples: equipment, tools, etc.)
  • Frequent work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequent work in high and precarious places.
  • Frequent and extensive travel required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 – $32.00 per hour
