Industry: Telecommunications Location: Macon County but may vary Travel: 60% to 80% Local

  • Responsible for assisting and support with installation, maintenance, and support of fiber and wireless installations.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining customer network; assist with all technical related equipment including radios, switches, and routers.
  • Review trouble reports for hardware, software, equipment, and service concerns with members of the BalsamWest team.
  • Assist with setup and testing of new trial equipment, technologies, and programs. Specializing in various wireless CPE technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skill Requirements:

  • Proficient with Windows and browser software.
  • Willingness to learn about PON fiber networks and other fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment, PRTG and other monitoring software.
  • Willingness to learn about terminating cables for computer and electrical components.
  • Candidate should be comfortable with climbing on ladders, under buildings, and into small spaces.
  • Willingness to learn about Cat 5e, Cat 6, as well as APC and UPC fiber connections. Effective at troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Willingness to learn about IP, Ethernet, and Fiber networks. Some knowledge of electrical wiring is a plus.
  • Must display and provide great customer service to our clients.

Experience:
No prior experience required. The successful candidate should possess a willingness to learn the following: Testing; Troubleshooting/Diagnostics; Vehicle Operations, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Description for Field Technician II:

  • Review trouble reports for hardware, software, equipment, and service concerns with other members of the BalsamWest team.
  • Assist with setup and testing of new trial equipment, technologies, and programs. Specializing in wireless and PONs technologies.
  • Proficient in either wireless or FTTH installs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient with Windows and browser software.
  • Willingness to learn about PON fiber networks and other FTTH equipment, PRTG and other monitoring software.
  • Experienced with choosing and terminating cables for computer and electrical components, comfortable with climbing on ladders, under buildings, and into small spaces.
  • Familiar with Cat 5e, Cat 6, as well as APC and UPC fiber connections. Effective at troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • General knowledge of IP, Ethernet, and Fiber networks. Knowledge of electrical wiring is a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in residential home networking and installations. The successful candidate should possess demonstrated success in the following areas: Testing; Troubleshooting/Diagnostics; Vehicle Operations, and Microsoft Office Suite.
