A Protel Industries Telecommunications Technician is responsible for the installation and support of products related to home networking, phones, etc. This positions priority will be to offer exceptional customer service while completing installs and repairs.

We are simply seeking for subcontractors and will not be employing any employees.

Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada/ Canadian citizen or have Permanent Resident Card
  • Ability to or have a registered company with valid GST number
  • Valid work Safe BC coverage and commercial liability insurance
  • Criminal abstract background check
  • Maintain a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract quarterly
  • Willing to travel if and when required
  • White van (no older than 7 years old) with a ladder rack. Van for rent available if needed.
  • Prior experience in telecommunications and/or working in the field independently is an asset
  • Must be comfortable with computers, and able to handle various Windows-based applications Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good outstanding Telus metrics

Responsibilities:

  • Install and repair support for Phone, Internet, and TV transported over fiber/copper networks
  • Installation, termination, and testing of coax, fiber, CAT6
  • Responsible for the installation/commissioning of TV/Internet/Phone/Security Systems equipment
  • Installation and repair of CCTV cameras, CCTV monitoring systems, alarm/security panels, PIR and Window Sensors, Thermostat, smoke/ carbon monoxide sensor, low voltage wiring
  • Drive the high quality installation of Internet/TV/VOIP services over fiber/coaxial
  • Analyze and repair existing Internet/TV/VOIP service challenges
  • Discover new Internet/TV/VOIP service issues and create solutions before problems can become customer impacting
  • Finally and most importantly, you will engage in meaningful conversations with our customers, developing real relationships in which the trust you build can be leveraged to provide solutions for the connected homes of today

Qualifications:

  • Unparalleled interpersonal communication skills – can provide technology education for customers with varied comprehension levels, recommending products to your customers upselling TELUS services and products to meet customer needs
  • Must have technical proficiency and familiarity with consumer electronics: computers, network devices, home theatre
  • Knowledge of network technology, architecture and elements, and their inter-workings
  • Care about providing exceptional customer experiences, overcoming objections, and handling both favorable and unfavorable customer interactions
  • Comfortable with solutions-based selling,
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and can also work with minimal supervision
  • Broad problem-solving abilities and analytical skills
  • Able to maintain a high level of performance while working with time constraints in a dynamic work environment
  • Normal color vision which is required to work with color-coded wiring
  • Can balance a physically demanding workload, which includes standing, lifting, climbing, bending, crawling in confined spaces, and working in a variety of indoor/outdoor environments
  • Able to work various shifts: days, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, to meet business needs and customer availability including out of town assignments
  • Fluent in English with a clear and genuine communication style, additional languages considered beneficial
  • Professional written and oral communication skills
  • Natural technical aptitude, and proficient knowledge of common consumer electronic devices
  • Dedicated to continuous learning with abilities to learn formally and informally in a dynamic environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $60,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
