The Purpose of the Role
- Strategic financial modelling across the Mails & PUDO (3rd party Pick Up Drop Off – Click & Collect and Returns) businesses, and
- Development and delivery if finance business partnering to the PUDO business.
This role is being introduced at an exciting time for the Commercial division and the successful applicant will join a fast moving and friendly environment.
Principal Accountabilities
Mails Strategic Modelling
- Source and populate Mails & PUDO strategy financial models with assumptions and variables; provide scenario analysis, with interpretation and insight, to support complex decision making
- Provide challenge to Mails & PUDO teams and business stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of pricing, market assumptions and variables.
- Provide finance expertise when classifying costs and benefits, ensuring their appropriate accounting treatment.
- Provide modelling support for business cases and investment decisions – Review the business cases with product and program leads and challenge assumptions and ensure compliance with governance
- Finance Business Partner – PUDO
- Evaluate and challenge PUDO product team on monthly performance vs budget/forecast
- Partner with PUDO team to provide commercial support and challenge as business grows
- Review, challenge and understand remuneration payable to postmasters for sales made to drive accurate forecasting
- Support PUDO team to generate accurate trading and financial reporting for new business areas
- Review and challenge specific areas of overheads cost base, articulating variances and recommending remedial action for areas of overspend
- Produce insightful month end variance analysis to inform upwards reporting to the Functional leadership team and remote Financial Control team
- Maintain a register of income/cost Risks & Opportunities, highlight through the appropriate channels and ensure alignment in quarterly forecasts
- Lead budgeting and forecasting process for PUDO to deliver a robust plan within the guidelines and timetable established by the Financial Control team
- Build an understanding of Product P&Ls, articulating the results to key stakeholders in the functional teams
- Provide expert advice and an independent view to the Finance Leadership Team, CFO and functional lead team
- Participate in cross Finance initiatives and work streams to include support for any audit work carried out
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Computer literacy / numeracy with strong Word and PowerPoint skills and advanced excel skills
- Ability to design and build financial models for complex initiatives.
- Experience in a ‘commercial’ finance environment operating at a senior level across multiple products and services
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate the story behind the numbers
- Knowledge of business case and investment appraisal processes
- Experience of detailed pricing modelling is a plus
- Broad range of accountancy skills – fully qualified accountant with CCAB recognised qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA and ACCA) and minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, or consultants with extensive financial modelling experience.

- Good understanding of finance systems (particularly SAP, BI, Anaplan)
