Job Summary/Responsibilities The Network and Telecommunication Services team is seeking a Federal Work Study-eligible student assistant to work directly with Telecommunication Technicians and Network Analysts to assist with equipment deployment and data communication closet organization. 
Typical Responsibilities:
    • Assists in deploying and connecting data, voice, and video network hardware.
    • Assists with maintaining and documenting data wiring and fiber infrastructure.
    • Assists with updating and maintaining network documentation and inventory. 
    • Assists with documenting the data network, including connections and topology, both physical and logical.
    • Assists with initiating, evaluating, installing, and operating network hardware and services.
    • Assists with the physical plant renovations relating to the voice, data, wireless, and video CATV infrastructure.
    • Helps ensure that systems design and operational procedures comply with federal, state, and university statutes, guidelines, and policies on confidentiality of information.
    • Provides end-user support for communications and connectivity issues.
    • Collaborates with the ITS Help Desk and other departments in escalating and resolving data network error conditions.
    • Helps to ensure the network can provide 24/7 connectivity for critical uses.
    • Other related duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications Must be a current UNF student who is eligible for and accept Federal Work Study (FWS) funding.  
Preferred Qualifications We are looking for someone who has strong attention to detail, picks up new skills/knowledge quickly, is self-motivated, displays initiative, is capable of independent work, and is interested in how networks enable all the excellent services that the University and our society as a whole rely upon. This position is of trust and will require a background check before employment.
