Huntington Power Equipment (HPE) is a leading provider of emergency, standby and critical power for both commercial and residential clients in Long Island and Metro New York. Located in the city of Islandia, HPE has been in business for over 40 years and is looking to train energetic engineers to satisfy the growing needs of the community.
The core of our business is emergency service to hospitals, EMS services, 911 call centers, local and state government emergency facilities, mission critical sites, telecommunications services, health care facilities, and public utilities. We also proudly serve private business and residential sites.
HPE will provide full factory training and certification of all its engineers. This training will enable the engineer to perform work on Generac (and other commercial) generators.
The fully trained engineer will be able to perform preventive maintenance and major repairs along with troubleshooting technical problems on diesel and gaseous-fueled generator sets ranging in size from 8 to 2000 kilowatts, switchgear and transfer switches, as well as control and monitoring software. Additionally, the generator engineer will commission new generators, diagnose issues, disassemble engines, and examine parts for defects and excessive wear.
The ideal candidate should possess previous technical experience/education on diesel and gas fired generators. Prior experience on Generac, Kohler, Caterpillar, Katolight, Cummins or Onan a plus.
Requirements:

· MS Office experience – intermediate excel experience a plus
· Must possess a smartphone
· Technical/Associates/Bachelor’s degree a must
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Experience with Diesel and Gas engine troubleshooting/repair
· Experience with computer control panel interface and/or programmed logic control troubleshooting / programming
· Ability to work on feet for up to 8 hours a day and carry loads up to 80 pounds safely
· Driver license required (driving record verified for insurance purposes) – CDL is a plus
· Experience with engine/generator and switchgear repair
· Must be willing to travel the assigned service territory (Connecticut and New York)
· Flexibility to work paid overtime as needed to meet customer needs and respond to emergency calls
· Ability to pass HPE training and certification
· Successful pre-employment substance screening and physical examination
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
