Responsibilities:
The Strategic Advisory group is one of the most experienced teams in the industry, and has been involved in some of the largest, most complex transactions in recent years. Our global team focuses on a diverse set of industries, including technology, media & telecommunications, energy, power & utilities, industrials healthcare, financial institutions, and real estate. The Oil & Gas Group advises clients on a wide array of energy Strategic Advisory, as well as partners with the Restructuring and Special Situations Group around distressed energy situations.
PJT Partners is seeking a Geologist who will be responsible for the technical evaluation of client oil & gas assets, assisting with the coordination of mandate execution, and the development of new business activities. Responsibilities include:
- Serve as primary in-house resource for subsurface knowledge of major US unconventional basins (Permian, Eagleford, Bakken, Appalachia, Haynesville etc.)
- Create maps, log cross-sections, and other views illustrating critical subsurface parameters and/or asset highlights
- Create and maintain geologic databases for major US basins to support technical analysis
- Identify upside opportunities in established or frontier basins
- Support engineers in calculating and/or creating type curves, inventory estimation, well spacing assumptions, and other parameters critical in subsurface evaluations
- Analyze well logs to calculate petrophysical parameters such as water saturation, effective porosity, and net pay
- Present summaries of subsurface parameters to clients highlighting key elements in generating value
- Create tools to improve efficiency and quality of technical analysis
Qualifications:
PJT Partners seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have excellent academic, leadership and extracurricular records. In addition, qualified candidates will possess the following:
- 5+ years of exploration/development experience in the E&P industry in conjunction with an A&D, new ventures, or business development skill set
- Self-starter capable of working with little to no geotechnical support; proactive in creating software tools to enhance process efficiencies
- Advanced understanding of the technical evaluation process for oil and gas assets
- Ability to identify upside and apply uncertainty / risk for oil and gas assets
- Proficient in ArcGIS in addition to other geologic software platforms such as Petra, Kingdom, etc.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to set priorities
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
