What You’ll Be Doing

This is a new role, created as a result of the huge growth in our insurance and payments businesses over the past few years. It reports into the General Counsel, who is responsible for the group legal, risk and compliance teams.

As Head of FCA Compliance you will be responsible for

• Setting the Compliance agenda for the insurance and payments businesses
• Ensuring the insurance and payments businesses meet all relevant regulatory requirements
• Maintaining FCA policies and procedures
• Implementing a robust monitoring and audit process across the insurance and payments businesses so as to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and external rules and regulations
• Being the principal contact for the FCA and ensuring FCA registrations are accurate and up to date and all relevant employees are aware of their obligations
• Providing timely and effective advice to the business on FCA compliance and regulation
• Horizon scanning so that you can identify, recommend and implement relevant changes in the light of changes to the regulatory landscape
• Managing a team of 1 Compliance Manager and 3 Compliance Advisors (the team expand in the future for the payments business).

We’re looking for a person that

• Can build, embed and maintain an effective compliance framework
• Has significant experience handling regulatory change, with the ability to distill complex rules and guidance into simple communications
• Has experience operating with an FCA regulated environment, preferably (though this is not essential) within insurance and/or payments
• Is commercially aware and can balance business needs with regulatory requirements
• Can identify and remediate any areas of non-compliance
• Can embed a strong compliance culture across the insurance and payments businesses
• Can effectively lead and manage compliance projects
• Can effectively lead and manage a compliance/monitoring team
• Will work closely with the learning and development team to ensure all employees across the payments and insurance businesses receive complete and effective training including initial and refresher training
• Is the escalation point for customer complaints
• Has excellent interpersonal skills and can speedily build effective working relationships at all levels in the business
• Is a self-starter who can, whilst being a real team player, work with minimal supervision
• Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Is resilient and flexible and enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-moving environment

The suitable candidate can work from either/both offices though will ideally spend some time in Sale where our Senior Leadership Team is based.
