The Retail HR Business Partner is responsible for implementing HR strategies in partnership with Senior Managers to enable decisions that are consistent with the Bank’s policies, values, and culture; interfacing with state and federal administrative agencies as needed; enhancing the Employee Experience by engaging with employees and leaders at critical moments in the life cycle of the employment relationship such as Career Development and Training, Accommodations, Workplace Threats, and Performance Management; and integrating with key partners across the bank to drive solutions that promote employee engagement and business results.
This position will work ‘in-office’ during an initial training period. Once the training period is successfully completed, this position, at the manager’s discretion, is eligible for telecommuting and remote work, subject to Woodforest’s Telecommuting and Remote Work Policy. For in-office and telecommuting requirements, Woodforest National Bank offices are in The Woodlands, Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, develop, implement, and sustain integrated ER-related strategies or solutions to align with customer and/or business.
- Handles employee relations issues for assigned client groups, escalating complex or unique employee relations issues to HR Manager and Employee Relations team.
- Engage with employees and leadership across the organization to enable business strategies, conduct ER related assessments and investigations, and discuss continuous improvement opportunities to foster a positive employee experience while driving key business initiatives.
- Promote knowledge, understanding, and compliance with company policies and relevant employment laws through coaching, presentations, and training.
- Identify, develop, implement, and sustain risk mitigation strategies with appropriate partners and stakeholders.

- Analytical, reporting, and presentation skills; must be able to confidently make recommendations to senior business leaders or HR partners for improved employee relations and business results based on data and findings.
- Broad knowledge of employee relations, complex workplace investigations, federal and state laws /regulations (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, ADEA and FMLA).
- Ability to position self as credible (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought-partner (builds relationships, delivers results).
- Ability to manage competing, high priority demands, prioritizing workload, managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and be part of a team environment while developing highly effective and valued professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential situations with objectivity, candor, and confidence.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to navigate human resources software applications (i.e., UltiPro, Taleo, Kronos) and related websites.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- 5 – 7 years’ professional progressive HR experience within a professional HR Department required.
- 2+ years’ experience handling in-depth Employee Relations matters required.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations required.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence others required.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Banking, Financial Services and/or Retail experience preferred.
Formal Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, psychology, sociology, industrial labor relations, preferred.
- PHR/SPHR certification or similar preferred.
Work Status:
- Full-Time.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- None.
Travel:
- Up to 25% travel required.
Working Conditions:
- Conditions involve lifting no more than ten pounds, sitting most of the time, but involve walking, moving, or standing for brief periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying articles like files, ledgers, folders, etc.
